Nendaz, an alpine getaway

When you think of a holiday in the mountains, what comes to mind? Welcome to Nendaz, the alpine area that isn’t just about skiing.

Nestled in the heart of the “4 Valleys”, this Swiss destination is home to perfect slopes and a variety of views and activities.

During the winter, Nendaz is a ski and snowboarders paradise. Over 400 kilometres of ski runs await daredevils of all levels, with varied terrains and altitudes. Most runs are equipped with snow cannons, just in case the weather prevails (so to speak). Forge your own path on Plan-du-Fou, the Gentianes, the Mont-Fort, Chassoure and Mont-Gelé or stick to pre-planned courses, the only thing left for you to determine is how brave you’re feeling.

New to the area is an 8-man cable car, linking Siviez to Plan du Fou in a 700 meter altitude accent. In just six and a half minutes, this speedy link joins two beautiful skiing locations, making sure you get to spend most of your time on the slopes, not getting to the top of them.

As well as fantastic slopes, Nendaz hosts a variety of other activities set to please every traveller. A Wood Park, a sledging run, a snowtubing run, an outdoor ice rink, a weekly activities programme organised by the tourist office and lots of other activities to give you hours of fun. Its location makes it an ideal place to explore by foot, with 100 km of marked winter walks, 6 marked snowshoe trails and 9km of cross-country ski runs with a breath-taking view of the surrounding mountains.

During the warmer seasons, bikers and hikers will find their happiness: more than 250km of hikes and walks and more than 200km of mountain bike tracks await them.
The Nendaz region offers 98 km of walks, along 8 ‘bisses’ (irrigation canal), of which 6 have water flowing within their banks. The paths along these bisses have the advantage of being almost flat, of passing through very varied countryside, and of supplying some extremely surprising views over the valleys, the villages and the mountains.

Fitness fanatics can indulge in the Nendaz Fitness Park. The 3 cycle trails have been created in collaboration with Garmin Télénendaz in order to keep you in shape (whatever your fitness level) and give you an amazing view of the area.

For the shopaholics amongst you, just half an hour from Nendaz is the town of Sion. The charming, old quarters aren’t to be missed and the Friday morning market allows you to treat yourself with a little bit of local charm.

All these activities are enough to leave even the most energetic individuals in need of some down time. Lucky for you, the area is home to over 30 restaurants showcasing the best of Euro-cuisine and 12 bars. After a bite to eat, why not check out one of the best spas in the Alps: spread over 2200m, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and hammam, you’re sure to leave feeling rested.

With everything this area has to offer you’d expect a hefty price tag, but with Nendaz that just isn’t the case. The wide selection of accommodation ranges from 1 to 5 star chalets as well as hotels.  New for this year is the 4 star superior New Nendaz 4 Vallées Hotel, located in the heart of the resort. With direct access to the cable car of Tracouet, conference rooms, restaurants, an exceptional Spa and over 60 guest rooms, it assures you can work and play hard. During the mid-season there are also a selection of special offers bought to you by the resort and their partners.

Luxury is no longer a daydream!
