Easy but not ordinary: check in at easyHotel Sofia
Unusual hotels are always worth a visit, especially when the price is good. If you are lucky enough to visit Bulgaria during your gap year, it’s a must that you spend at least one night at easyHotel Sofia, which is located in the centre of the capital.
The first thing a guest thinks when they enter an easyHotel Sofia for the first time is that they have been transported to a ship or an airplane cabin. Many fall in love with the futuristic design and the orange colour, which are the trademark of the 20 hotels of the easy chain all over the world. The association, with being on an airplane was presumably deliberate, as the brains behind the idea of low-cost hotel is also the creator of the easyJet carrier.
The rooms at easyHotel are compact but not as compact as the infamous capsule hotels of Tokyo. Each room has enough space for a double bed and some functional furniture, as well as its own shower bathroom. To complete the sense of cosiness, the rooms at easyHotel have adjustable air-conditioning, an LCD TV set, free Wi-Fi access and electronic card keys. The bathrooms have rounded windows like a ship cabin and give the feeling of being at sea.

Original and functional
A spacious room is not always functional, but the easyHotel design disproves this, as they boast a range of innovative furniture. Built-in niches in the beds are the equivalent of traditional wardrobes and nightstands. There is a dressing table with a mirror, a spot reading light, hat and coat racks, and a TV on the wall.

еasyHotel Sofia is interesting not only because of its vision, but also due to its more than affordable prices. The rate for a double room starts from just 19 euros, and the earlier you make a reservation, the cheaper your stay will be. The prices vary from time to time, just like in buying an airplane ticket, so reservations are chiefly made online.
The reception is open 24/7, and for guests with cars there is underground and free outdoor parking.
easyHotel Sofia is in the middle of the capital, one metro station away from the centre. From April 2015 it will have a direct metro connection with Sofia Airport.
If you haven’t been before, Sofia is a very green city. This harmonises very well with its unique and early romantic 20th-century architecture and artistic spirit. Modern art has increasingly became part of the capital’s landscape in the last 5 years, so you will never be bored with the ambience of the subcultures that consist of young, active and creative people, in addition to the thousands of bars, clubs, live music and festivals.
