The Old town of Budva
The legend says that the town of Budva was founded by the Phoenician-Greek hero Kadmo and his wife Harmony, the daughter of Ares and Aphrodite. The earliest literary finding of Budva comes under the name Butua, from the 5th century BCE, mentioned by the famous Ancient writer Sophocles in his scripts.
The city of Budva is considered one of the oldest town settlements on the eastern coast of the Adriatic.
A town with only 20,000 inhabitants is visited by 900,000 tourists annually who produce over 5 million overnight stays. The Old Town is the most recognizable symbol of modern Budva and represents the centre of summer entertainment and cultural events.
The Budva Riviera
The special treasure of the Budva Riviera is a magnificent hinterland. For those who love hiking tours, there are fifteen organized hiking trails which we recommend to all people who seek an active holiday while staying on the Budva Riviera. The picturesque villages with authentic architecture are a special jewel for tourists.
