Visit Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden - a capital in the heart of Germany!

You may not have heard of Wiesbaden, and you may wonder why you should visit. Well, the answer is easy; Wiesbaden is situated right in the heart of Germany in the middle of the Rhine-Main region, some 30 minutes from Frankfurt Airport and as such can easily be reached by car, train or bus. And Wiesbaden has much to offer – impressive sights such as the Kurhaus, Germany´s oldest cable car driven by water power, a castle right in the city centre, 26 hot springs, over 800 magnificent villas and beautiful buildings are just some of the reasons that make Wiesbaden a charming city.

Events and wine

With more than 270,000 inhabitants, Wiesbaden is one of the major German cities that stand for a sporty, cultural and socially vibrant life. The event calendar is colourful and bursting with things to visit: sports events that draw huge crowds are just as popular as the Wilhelmstraßenfest (7th – 8th June), one of Germany´s biggest street festivals, or the Twinkling Star Christmas Market (26th Nov. – 23rd Dec.). If you are a wine lover don’t miss the ten-day Wine Festival in August (8th – 19th) when Wiesbaden transforms into the “longest wine bar in the world”. On 120 stalls, the winegrowers of Wiesbaden and the Rheingau region present their delicious produce together with local specialties and entertainment. Wiesbaden is located right next to the Rheingau, one of the most beautiful and traditional wine-growing regions in Germany and famous for its “Riesling” wine. By the way: The Rheingau with its numerous palaces, castles and monasteries is worth a day trip - take a boat trip to the Rheingau on the Rhine river!

City of hot springs and well-being

For those seeking relaxation, Wiesbaden, with its excellent reputation as a first-class medical venue, is the perfect place – the 26 hot springs unfold their soothing effects in the Thermalbad Aukammtal and Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme thermal spas.

A shopping spree in Wiesbaden is eventful, inspiring and guarantees constant variety. Next to major chain stores, a large number of retailers and exclusive boutiques promise a top-notch shopping pleasure. The “old town” with its charming atmosphere is definitely worth a visit!
