Do something life changing with Mission Direct
Do you want your gap year to matter?
Do something life-changing…
What we do:
Mission Direct gives you the opportunity to help some of the world’s most vulnerable. Whether it’s working to get street children into full-time education, building schools, houses or hospitals, or rescuing girls from FGM – you’ll help to build brighter futures for those less fortunate than yourself.
What you can do:
You can come on a two-week trip to Africa (Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Sierra Leone), India, Cambodia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic or Moldova – or join us as an overseas staff member for a few months – on a trip that will change lives; including yours. Your trip usually includes building something in the mornings – a house, a school, a clinic, a refuge…but no building skills are required, as we work with local professionals who know what they’re doing!
In the afternoons, you’ll visit and lend a hand to community projects such as feeding orphans, organising games for disabled children, supporting HIV centres, washing children’s hair or simply just talking to people and hearing their stories that will stay with you forever.
Why come with us?
Our trips provide an all-inclusive experience overseas:
• Return flights
• Transfers and transport in-country
• All meals
• Project costs (e.g. bricks, local labour, donations to feed programmes etc.)
• UK orientation and debrief/team reunion days
No one can explain how this trip will have impact – on those you go to help, or on you. Just be prepared to have your heart stolen and your eyes opened.
At the end of your trip, or as part of your in-country staff work, you’ll get down time to explore and experience the marvellous country you’re in. From safari’s in Kenya, the Taj Mahal in India and treks through the Amazon Rainforest, to the Killing Fields of Cambodia and the beaches of the Dominican Republic or Sierra Leone.
So what are you waiting for? This needs to be experienced to be believed – no one returns unchanged or without a story to tell…
